Gwendolyn Meharg – President and Chairman
Gwendolyn Meharg epitomizes integrity, energy, creativity and hard work in every person, project and purpose. She grew up with four sisters, which fine-tuned her ability to handle personalities, develop strategies and hug through challenges.
Gwendolyn is devoted to GOD, her husband, three children and her community. She is the President and Chairman of the Board for Homestyle Pampering, LLC. Gwendolyn is also the President and founder of Let Her Be Heard, a non-profit organization which encourages women to listen, acknowledge and address their health needs.
She currently serves as the PR Marketing and Development Coordinator for NATASHA House, a transitional home for moms and their children. Gwendolyn is also a current member with the Peninsula Women Network (PWN) and has been appointed to serve as the Gloucester PWN Power Group Facilitator. Gwendolyn also holds membership with the Peninsula Task Force on Aging (PenTFA), a non-profit group of professionals and individuals who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for seniors throughout the Hampton Roads community.
Gwendolyn supervises at PRP Management Services, an organization established to provide residential services for individuals intellectually disabled and to provide specialized services to meet their physical and emotional needs.
Gwendolyn worked within the banking industry educating businesses and individuals on the benefits Woodforest National Bank could offer. She also worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car where she performed accounting services and acted as a liaison between Enterprise and car dealerships.
Since 2010, Gwendolyn has volunteered with The Junior League of Hampton Roads, and has served in numerous positions to include, Finance Chair, Training and Development, Publication Chair, New Member Co-Chair, Community Vice President, Finance Chair, Community Outreach Chair, and New Member Community Outreach Chair.
In 2012, Gwendolyn was awarded the Junior League of Hampton Roads Volunteer Service Award. She has also served in the American Cancer Association as a facilitator in “Look Good Feel Better” program and as an ambassador for Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce (VPCC).
Jill Reece, RN – Nutrition Advisor
Jill Reece is the founder of True Found Wellness of Gloucester, Virginia where she serves her clients as a Registered Nurse, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, GAPS Practitioner, Myofascial Release Therapist, Morphogenic Field Tester, and Wellness Strategist.
Jill’s medical career began in 1986. As a very successful Registered Nurse, she worked in Cardiac Intensive Care and various administrative roles such as the Assistant Director of Nursing at a large, long-term care nursing facility until her “incurable” disability, both mental and physical, occurred in 1998.
In her self-driven, recovered wellness, it has become her life’s passion to help others on their own health journey. Her personal story is full of hope and from a perspective of overcoming insurmountable odds.
The premise under which she helps her clients is not to chase symptoms, but to use those symptoms as markers to point to the root causes that are out of balance in the Six Foundations of Health.
Jill lives to see people THRIVE and enjoy life−this is her life’s mission! Working with doctors and other therapists whose strengths complement her own, she brings a well-rounded picture of true wellness to the marketplace. Not to be measured by her accomplishments alone, Jill’s key to success is the size of her heart to love and serve others.
Courtney Riley – Marketing Advisor
Courtney Riley is the owner of Proximo Marketing Strategies, an international digital marketing firm in Gloucester, VA. Courtney also works as adjunct faculty at Thomas Nelson Community College, educating students on marketing best practices.
In 2017, Courtney launched her second company, Cowork Gloucester VA, a business incubator created for entrepreneurs, startups and small businesses to work together in an environment that fosters community, productivity and creativity. Cowork members benefit from mentor-ship, education and exclusive resources, geared toward business growth.
Courtney has a passion for connecting and empowering entrepreneurs and business owners on both a local and national level, and currently serves on the board of several organizations including Peninsula Women’s Network–the longest consecutive running women’s networking organization in the United States.
Named one of Hampton Roads’ “Top 40 Under 40” & “Hampton Roads’ 2016 Woman of Excellence,” Courtney is determined to change our world!
Kim Buzzell – Legal Advisor
Born in Winchester, Virginia, Kim Buzzell has endeavored to incorporate her love of family and entrepreneurship to build a better life for her family and community.
After attending Queens University in Charlotte, NC, Kim began her career within the financial sector working her way up to Assistant Branch Manager of a Savings and Loan Institution. This is when she met the love of her life, her husband, Steve. When they married, she joined him in the development, building, and real estate business. In 1985, Kim became a real estate broker, owning her own business while continuing to work with her husband. Kim also became a licensed Class A General Contractor following in her husband’s footsteps.
As the real estate and construction industries ebb and flow, Kim has grown to trust God to see her family through hard times. Through these trials, Kim continues to build her faith in God and knowledge through education. Kim has earned a Certification in Christian Studies from Rhema Bible School, trained in investigations and interviewing techniques, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies with a Minor in Criminal Justice. Currently, she is working to become a Registered Private Investigator while attending Liberty University to obtain a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling with a Criminal Justice Cognate and her Juris Master’s in American Legal Studies.
With 30 years’ experience in entrepreneurship and extensive education endeavors, Kim believes she is a valuable resource to the business community. Believing her experiences are adventures to be shared, Kim supports others, so they too may build successful businesses and overcome obstacles.
Mildred “Nany” Gonzalez – Accounting Advisor
A native of Newport News, Virginia, Nany Gonzalez holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. Nany navigated the first 10 years of her career fulfilling progressively responsible positions in a variety of commercial, professional and industrial entities while she completed her undergraduate degree. These include Camellia Foods, Anders Williams Scientific, Bob Crumpler Nissan, two area CPA firms, and Virginia Log, LLC.
Nany earned her first executive role in 2000 when she took the helm of both Corporate Accounting and Human Resources Divisions for a $32 million manufacturing company and nationwide distributor of drug testing kits. Over the following nine years with Instant Technologies, Inc., she engineered several operations improvement campaigns and navigated through sustained growth to ultimately position the company for a highly profitable buyout. Nany also handled accounting for two affiliate companies, Ramsey, LLC and Instant Systems, Inc., favorably positioning her with the founder of Instant Technologies for future employment prospects.
After a profitable sell-off of Instant Technologies and fulfilling a 2-year stay-over to ensure the success of the transition process, Nany was offered a position by Instant Tech’s previous owner to join the start-up team as Business Director and Start-up Consultant for his newly forming medical supply business. As such, she successfully designed and established the new company’s accounting, human resources and employee benefits programs from the ground up, while serving the following three years as consultant to the executive team during a major expansion period.
Having achieved success in the commercial accounting profession, Nany turned her attention to fulfilling a lifelong passion to contribute to the underprivileged in her community. She has served as CFO for two non-profits, Community Alternatives and Chesapeake Service, ultimately opening the doors on her accounting firms to assist entrepreneurs and small businesses in achieving and sustaining success.
As the owner of MOR Consulting, LLC and with an extensive background in critical business functions, Nany provides seasoned experience in business process analytics and the management of accounting, bookkeeping, human resources, payroll, taxation, and inventory systems in a variety of business and professional services settings.
Nany currently serves as Treasurer for the Peninsula Spanish SDA Church, Parliamentarian on the Peninsula Women’s Network Board of Directors and Advisor for Our House of Hope, a Gloucester non-profit.
Terry Thorpe, LCSW – Social and Mental Health Advisor
Terry Thorpe is an honor graduate of both the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s and master’s in social work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the state board of Virginia and has been working with individuals and families for over 18 years.
Since 2015, Terry has been working extensively with long-term nursing facilities that support the senior population and their families. She has had the privilege to assist these residents with their often-complicated grief as well as their loss of independence and role transition.
In private practice in Gloucester, Virginia, Terry works with families of all ages and issues. With her specialty in grief and trauma, she is acutely aware of the obstacles that families face when a loved one passes.
Terry is an active member in Scouting and has been for seven years.
